It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our beloved father Helton Pachake, on December 3rd 2020, at the age of 86. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Dalal, his children, Xavier and Marla (Yanick), and his grandchildren, Chloé and Théo, for whom his face lit up the most with love and pride.
He will also be fondly remembered by his sister, Hilda, his brother-in-law, Raja, their children Ferdinand and Bernadette, his (late) sister Janette’s children John, Abraham and Valerie, as well as by other dear friends and relatives all over the world.
Helton was born in Rangoon, Burma, where he spent his early childhood. When he was a young boy, WWII compelled his parents to return to their hometown, Trivandrum, India. After graduating from college, he left for the city of Port Sudan, Sudan, Africa, where he lived for 10 years, working as a teacher. Following that, he stayed for 2 years in London, England, before his journey finally brought him to Montreal, in 1967, where he settled and started his family. He earned a Masters degree in mathematics at Concordia University and went on to achieve an incredible 50-year carrier as a dedicated high school math teacher for the ESMB (English Montreal School Board).
An unparalleled globetrotter, Helton travelled any chance he got and made his family discover many countries. Loving, caring and generous in nature, he remarkably kept in touch with countless loved ones in all four corners of the world. A devout Catholic, he instilled his unprecedented faith to his family and shared it with the community of Notre-Dame-de-Grace (NDG) as an usher at Saint-Monica’s Parish for over 40 years. His passions also included, soccer, tutoring and playing bridge.
Due to the curent circumstances, the funeral will be held privately in the chapel of the funeral home.
The celebration of his life will be shared for viewing, live, online, Saturday, December 19th, at 4pm (link posted below). It will also be available online for 90 days, following the live broadcast.
Special thanks to Villa Kirkwood Residence and Résidence Riviera for the care, assistance and attention their devoted staff members provided. Sincere thanks also to precious friends and family for their continued love and support.
