In loving memory of Stephen Gilbert Taylor PhD, who passed away peacefully on August 9, 2021.
Stephen was the beloved eldest child of Gilbert and Helen Taylor, of Medford, Massachusetts. He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth A. Taylor, and brother and sister-in-law, James and Shearon Taylor. He lives on through his nieces and nephews Jacquelyn, William, Suzanne, Daniel, Marie, Chris and their children. He was also a very important member of the Goedike’s extended family, he was loved and will be missed tremendously.
Stephen graduated from Buckingham, Browne and Nichols School, Cambridge, MA, in 1963, where he was the manager of the crew team. He then came to Montreal and earned several degrees from McGill and Concordia Universities.
A major aspect of Steve's career focused on faculty development. He held a leadership position in research teams at Champlain Saint-Lambert College and joined the faculty of the Master Teachers' Program in 2006 which is a graduate program for anglophone Cegep teachers accredited by the University of Sherbrooke. He taught courses in technology, served as a technical assistant and in 2018 assumed responsibility for the Research Component, the final stage of the program, which leads to a Master of Education. He shepherded numerous candidates to their successful completion right up until days before his death. His commitment to higher education and to the success of every Cegep student and faculty member who crossed his path will be felt for generations to come. He was in every sense, A Master Teacher.
He marked countless souls as authentic and utterly warm. He was a friend to many who had the fortune to cross paths with him, a true mentor in all our lives. His dedication to the field of Educational Technology and Biology have left an indelible mark in the lives of thousands of students. His passion, love and kindness will be missed by all.
