Dad, you were too precious ever to be forgotten and too priceless to ever be replaced. You were truly a

One-in-a-million Dad, and we will love you always.

William (Bill) Ross Buckberrough chose February 24th, 2026, to find peace after a difficult period of pain. He often said his goal was to reach 95, yet he remained quietly proud to have surpassed his father’s 92 years.

Dad was born in Tokyo, Japan, on January 14, 1934, to William Ross Sr. and Kay Buckberrough. Unbeknownst to him at the time, his first seven years were spent in what many would consider an exotic and extraordinary world.

His Canadian life began in Montreal, where he grew up and thrived. He developed a lifelong passion for sports and formed friendships that stayed close to his heart for nearly eight decades.

He was hired by Bell Canada in 1955, and then life officially began. He and Mary began their family in 1960, and he leaves behind their children: Richard (Lina), Lori (Lawrence), and Linda (Ray).

Gramps will also be missed by his grandchildren—Rachel (Simon), Melanie (Marc-Andre)

Gabriel (Genevieve), Jayme (Adam), Michele (Phil), Melissa (Arthur), and Kyle. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Alexanne, Juliette, Simone, James, Isla, and Elodie, who graced our world just last week.

Dad held deep affection for his many nieces and nephews across Canada, along with the extended friends who shared in his life. We offer our heartfelt thanks to all of them for the meaningful ways they touched his journey. He was predeceased by his younger brother Bob, who passed away 16 years ago, almost to the day, on February 23rd

For more than 25 years, the most precious person in Dad’s life was his beloved Monique Desjardins. Our gratitude for her unconditional love and unwavering support cannot be expressed in words. Dad truly won the relationship lottery when they became a couple—through his last breath and beyond. We take comfort knowing that Monique’s children, Eric and Christian, will be a source of strength for her during this difficult time. Monique will forever remain a part of the Buckberrough family.

We will gather together on Thursday, March 5th, 2026,  not to say goodbye but to thank Dad for just being our Dad, Gramps, Uncle, Friend, and Companion.   Cooperative Funeraire du Grand Montreal @ 6:30 to 8:30 – 2000 rue Cunard, Laval (Corner of Cunard and  Boulevard  le Corbusier.
